One of the loveliest parts of what we do here at The Great Barn is the people we get to work with. Over the years, we’ve built up a Little Black Book of wedding suppliers who we genuinely adore; people who are not only brilliant at their job, but who also understand the feel of this place, the gentle flow of our weddings, and the importance of making every couple feel completely looked after. Whenever a new couple asks us, “Who would you recommend?”, these are the names we share without hesitation.
Our Supplier Spotlight series is our way of introducing you to some of those wonderful creatives a little more personally. They’re the photographers, florists, celebrants, stylists and makers who help bring wedding days here to life – and who feel very much part of the wider Great Barn team.
This time, we’re delighted to shine the spotlight on Louise of Louise Eleanor Photography. With her relaxed, story-led approach and a real eye for genuine connection, Louise captures weddings here so beautifully and honestly. She has a calm presence that couples instantly warm to, and her images reflect the atmosphere of the day in the most natural, joyful way. We couldn’t wait to share a little more about Louise and her work…
Tell us a little about yourself…
I’m Louise, a wedding photographer based in South Devon, where I live with my husband, two children and our 6 month old labradoodle. I love being outdoors and that relaxed, natural way of life strongly influences how I photograph weddings. My style is candid, joyful and story-led. I focus on genuine connection and real moments rather than stiff posing. Oh, and I love the in-between moments – the laughter, emotion and those quiet glances that truly tell your story.
How did you get started in the wedding industry?
I studied photography at university and originally planned to work in photojournalism. Wedding photography grew naturally from that love of storytelling – documenting real people and real moments.
What makes a wedding at The Great Barn Devon so special, in your opinion?
The combination of the historic barn & cottages, open countryside and relaxed outdoor areas creates such a warm, welcoming atmosphere! As someone who loves being outside and working with natural light, it’s a dream venue to photograph. There’s space for couples to slow down, breathe and truly enjoy their day, and that always translates into more genuine, emotive images.
Do you have a favourite memory or moment from a wedding here?
Some of my favourite moments at The Great Barn have been the quieter ones – couples stepping outside together to make the most of golden hour, guests chatting in the sunshine, or children playing around the grounds. Those little pauses away from the busyness of the day often become some of the most meaningful photographs, and The Great Barn offers so many opportunities for those moments to naturally happen.
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding?
Try not to over-plan every second of the day. Build in breathing space so you can enjoy being present with each other and your guests. Choosing a venue like The Great Barn, where indoor and outdoor spaces flow so beautifully, really allows the day to unfold naturally. The more relaxed and true to yourselves your day feels, the more memorable – and photographable – it will be.
Are there any trends you’re loving at the moment?
Trends come and go and don’t get me wrong, they can be a lot of fun! But for me, the most special wedding days are those that feel authentic to the couple, where they’ve made the day personal to them as a couple rather than doing what they feel they ‘ought’ to do.
What does a typical wedding day look like for you, behind the scenes?
My days are a mix of being in the moment and anticipating what’s next: I’ll usually start with covering the getting ready stages and the little details, then move into ceremony coverage, family and couple portraits, and event-driven scenes such as speeches, first dances, candid guest moments. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive: I want you to live your wedding day, not feel like you’re performing for it.
Where can people see your work or get in touch?
You can view more of my work on my website, where you’ll find galleries, blog features from real weddings, and details about wedding photography packages. I’m also on Instagram – where I share recent weddings, behind-the-scenes moments and inspiration for couples planning their day. Whether you’re ready to book or just want to say hi, I’d love to hear from you!
A final word from us…
Louise’s thoughtful, unobtrusive approach and her love for the in-between moments make her a joy to work with, and a wonderful choice for couples who want their wedding day captured naturally and honestly. We’re always so pleased when we see her name on a booking, and we couldn’t recommend her more warmly to couples planning their celebration here at The Great Barn Devon. If you’re seeking a venue for your own wedding, we’d love to welcome you for a viewing.
