From Start to Finish: Your dream Wedding at The Great Barn devon

Let us walk you through your wedding, from the ‘I Do’ moments up until the last dance! Our team are here to make sure every second of your special day is exactly as you envisioned, so you can enjoy one of life’s most celebrated events in the dreamiest Devon setting.

THE DAY BEFORE YOU MARRY

Your wedding weekend begins on Friday, when our entire venue becomes exclusively yours. Settle in slowly, decorate as you wish, and soak up the peaceful surroundings. There’s plenty of time for rehearsals, relaxation, and simply enjoying the build-up together. Whether you prefer to cook for yourselves in our beautiful cottage kitchens or opt for a delicious Friday night feast prepared and served by our lovely team in the West Barn, the choice is entirely yours.
This is your time – take it all in, feel at home, and savour every moment before you say “I do.”

Your Wedding Ceremony

If you are considering a Civil Ceremony or Civil Partner ship, then look no further than the licensed Great Barn or the arbour in the Walled Garden (perfect for those alfresco-loving couples). To book a Civil Ceremony, please contact Devon Register Office at srexeter@devon.gov.uk or call 0345 155 1002.

For couples who want a traditional church ceremony, you’ll find St John the Baptist church just a few minutes’ walk away from The Great Barn Devon (which is listed as one of Britain’s top 1,000 churches). Our team will be thrilled to guide you through all the formalities should you be looking to get married there. Please contact Rev Ruth Frampton on 01647 252845 to find out more.

We also welcome celebrant-led ceremonies, religious blessings, Chinese tea ceremonies, and much more!

Your Wedding feast

If you haven’t already, we suggest you dive straight into our delicious wedding menus. Using an abundance of organic and locally produced ingredients, our talented team of in-house chefs work their magic in our fully equipped catering kitchen.

BUBBLY & BAR

When it comes to your tipple choices, we have an array of drink suggestions that may take your fancy. From decadent wines to enjoy during your feast through to specialist fizzes for the speeches. Within the collection, you’ll discover the finest drinks produced in Devon, as well as wine and bubbles chosen by our talented local wine merchant. If there is a certain drink you have your heart set on, just let us know.

We always make sure your guests are well-fed and well-watered, which is why we allow for a realistic amount of drinks per head. Once your guest list is confirmed, we’ll agree your drinks order together at our planning meetings. Should your guests turn out much thirstier than expected, rest assured our Maître D will be on hand to extend your supplies.

We also offer couples the option of supplying their own drinks, for a competitive corkage charge per head.

Your Dream Wedding Party

You’ve exchanged vows and said, ‘I Do’, you’ve tucked into the tastiest feast and now it’s time to party! We’ll ask your guests to head into the bar in The Roundhouse or The West Barn for a coffee, so that our staff can clear any tables to make room for the dance-floor and band.

We love hearing and seeing the bands, DJs and discos that our couples bring to our venue. If you’re in need of some recommendations, we’ve got you covered – from 10-piece rock bands to Ceilidh groups. And if you fancy a simple Spotify playlist, we can plug your phone into our sound system, help source a PA system and reactive lighting and, simple as that, you have an epic party without breaking the bank!

The dance-floor is hosted in the main body of The Great Barn (with the bar very close by). Festoon lighting will also be twinkling in the courtyard and the fire pit will be lit – marshmallows in the evening, anyone?

THE NEXT DAY

The celebrations may be over, but the magic doesn’t end there. Our venue remains entirely yours for the whole of Sunday, so there’s no need to rush off.
Enjoy a slow morning with a cosy lie-in, followed by a delicious brunch either cooked in your cottages or by our chefs in the West Barn. Enjoy a dip in our outdoor pool (April-October), BBQ in the garden, share stories and laughter from the day before, and soak up every last moment with your loved ones. When the time feels right, head off hand in hand to start your next chapter as newlyweds.
