One of the most sought-after things couples look for in a wedding venue is the ability to sleep their guests on-site – no hotel taxis, no early departures, no guests missing the last dance to make a midnight check-in. At The Great Barn Devon, the estate sleeps up to 30 guests across three beautiful self-catering properties.

Place, the main house, sleeps 12 – 17 guests and is the natural gathering place for the wedding party, with a proper farmhouse kitchen, comfortable sitting rooms, and enough luxurious bedrooms for the people who matter most.

St Nectan sleeps 6 – 8, ideal for immediate family or a bridal party.

Figgy Cottage sleeps 4 – 5 – perfect for elderly relatives or a honeymoon couple on the first night.

Our three on-site self-catering properties comfortably sleep up to 22 guests (or 30 with sofa and high-quality fold away beds).

Arrive the day before your wedding from 9am on a Friday and check-out on Sunday whatever time works for you, or Monday morning by 10am.

Place

The largest of our properties, this stunning Grade lI* listed house contains our beautiful separate Bridal apartment.

Sleeps 12 + 5 on sofa beds.

St Nectan

Our second largest property, this luxurious cottage boasts views over our glorious rose garden.

Sleeps 6 + 2 on sofa bed.

Figgy Cottage

Smaller in size, but every bit as beautiful, this gorgeous cottage has its own private walled garden to enjoy.

Looking for a Devon wedding venue that sleeps 30 guests on-site? The Great Barn Devon is one of very few venues in the South West of England to offer this alongside a 15th century barn ceremony space, full catering, and exclusive-use grounds. For couples wanting to bring their closest people together for a proper long weekend – not just a single event day – this is what makes our luxury wedding venue different.

The on-site accommodation is available from Friday afternoon through to Sunday, or Monday morning upon request. All properties have been recently updated and beautifully decorated, and are offered with fresh linen, towels, and all home-from-home comforts.

How many guests can stay onsite at The Great Barn Devon?

Our onsite accommodation sleeps up to 30 guests across three self-catering cottages. It’s ideal for close family, the wedding party or friends who want to make the most of the wedding weekend in Devon.

Is the accommodation included in the venue hire?

Accommodation is booked separately from venue hire, giving couples flexibility to choose how many nights they would like to use the cottages during their wedding celebrations.

Can our wedding guests stay onsite for the whole wedding weekend?

Yes — our couples use the accommodation across the full wedding weekend, arriving on the Friday, enjoying the prep day with the wedding party, having supper together either on site cooking for themselves or using our Chef, or heading out to one of our two fantastic local pubs. Guests then stay the night of the wedding and with a relaxed Sunday check out of 4pm families make use of the cottages and gardens to have a lunch or brunch with their inner circle before heading off. If they prefer they are most welcome to stay Sunday night too!

Can the accommodation be booked for longer than the wedding weekend?

Guests are welcome to arrive earlier in the week and stay on longer after the wedding if they would like, just let us know and we’ll make sure the dates are reserved for them.

Are the cottages exclusively for our wedding party?

Yes – the onsite accommodation is exclusively for your wedding guests; the estate is totally private throughout your celebrations.

Can we stay the night before the wedding?

Absolutely. Many couples choose to stay onsite the night before the wedding so they can settle in properly and enjoy time with family and friends ahead of the day itself.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

On Friday the main house Place is available from 9am, St Nectan and Figgy Cottage from 2pm at the latest. Checkout on Sunday is 4pm, Monday 10am.

Is the wedding accommodation family-friendly?

The cottages work well for families, with spacious communal areas and flexible accommodation for guests of different ages. Given they are three different properties but all within the courtyard the wedding party can be together but also enjoy a degree of privacy. We can also provide highchairs and cots as required.

Is the wedding accommodation dog-friendly?

We are very happy for two dogs to stay in Place and one in each of St Nectan and Figgy Cottage we just ask the dogs stay downstairs and don’t sleep on the furniture. There are lovely walks through our fields and woods right on the doorstep.

Is there a swimming pool onsite?

Yes – there is a heated outdoor pool with hammocks and sun loungers in an orchard hidden behind the yew and beech hedges, available from Easter until the end of October. Guests staying on site are welcome to use it throughout the weekend (although we do lock it up during the wedding day itself for obvious reasons!)

Do you provide swim towels?

No we ask you to bring your own swim towels.

Can you provide food on the friday or sunday of the wedding weekend?

The cottages are self-catering, but our chefs can provide supper on the Friday and offer breakfast options on the Sunday. Browse our Friday supper / Sunday morning menu here.

Can guests park their vehicles onsite?

Yes – there is plenty of onsite parking available for guests staying in the accommodation and attending weddings at The Great Barn Devon.

Are towels and bed linen provided in the cottages?

Yes, quality bed linen and towels are provided in all properties together with salt and pepper, oil, tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tables, kitchen roll.

Are our guests allowed to camp onsite?

Absolutely! There is a very large flat area at the back of the Barn ideal for guests who would like to pitch their own tents. We can also recommend a great bell tent company who can set up their beautiful tents and comfy beds – we’ve had up to 12 in this area. Those with campervans are most welcome to park up overnight too.

Do you have a loo and shower block for campers?

No, but we will leave the gents and disabled loos open overnight. If there are lot of campers, we can help source mobile loo/shower block and provide a power supply.

Is there accommodation nearby for additional guests that can’t stay onsite?

There are plenty of accommodation options near The Great Barn Devon, including two AirBnb cottages and a beautiful self-catering house sleeping 6 in the village, all within walking distance of The Great Barn. There are also lots of other AirBnB cottages, pubs with rooms, glamping and camping in the Teign Valley. Exeter is only 8 miles away with a 2-hour train connection from London and has a large range of hotels.

For those not staying onsite or nearby, is it easy to get a taxi to and from The Great Barn?

Yes – we have a good selection of taxi firms who are very used to dropping and picking up guests from The Great Barn. The cost of a taxi into Exeter averages £25.
