One of the things that makes a wedding here at The Great Barn Devon so special is the chance to have all your favourite people staying in one place for the whole weekend. It’s rare to find a wedding venue with ample on-site accommodation, and we’re so pleased to offer it – because we know how much it means to spend that extra time with your nearest and dearest.
Our three self-catering cottages are just a (very!) short stroll from the main venue, so your guests can wander back after a day of celebrating and sink into somewhere warm, welcoming and truly gorgeous. Each cottage is full of little luxuries and comforts, designed to feel like a real home from home.
THE EASE OF STAYING ON SITE
Having your guests right here with you turns your wedding into a whole weekend experience. Arrive on Friday, settle in, and spend the night before enjoying a relaxed evening together. On the big day itself, there’s no need for taxis or late-night journeys – just a wander back to your cottage. And the morning after, linger over coffee and catch up on all the stories from the night before. During the warmer months (Easter – October) our outdoor pool is ready and waiting for your guests to enjoy either side of your wedding day, and our talented team of chefs are on hand to produce delicious meals so you really needn’t lift a finger, unless you want to of course! Whether you’re after a tasty supper to enjoy the night before your big day, or a hearty breakfast to fuel you all up the morning after, you can find plenty of options in our Friday night / Sunday morning menu.
Some guests choose to embrace our gorgeous and fully equipped kitchens to cook up a storm for themselves over the course of the weekend, in which case we’re more than happy to arrange delivery of your food shop or advise on lovely local places to stock up.
We also make check-out easy and flexible: leave whenever works for you on Sunday, or head off Monday morning by 10am, if you prefer.
Your Home for the Weekend
Between our three properties, we can sleep up to 22 guests (or 30 if you use very comfortable, high quality sofa beds and fold-outs). Each one has its own character – from the grandeur of a Grade II* listed house to a snug hideaway with its own private garden.
Place
Our biggest property and a real showstopper. This historic Grade II* listed house includes the separate bridal apartment – the perfect retreat for getting ready (and sneaking away for some quiet time later on). Sleeps 12 + 5 on sofa beds.
St Nectan
Light-filled and luxurious, with views over our rose garden, St Nectan is a wonderful space to share with close family or your bridal party. Sleeps 6 +2 on a lovely sofa bed.
Figgy Cottage
Smaller than the other 2, but every bit as charming, Figgy Cottage has its own private walled garden – ideal for a morning coffee or a quiet moment. Sleeps 4 + 1 on a fold-out bed.
Easy, Flexible Booking
We keep things simple: you book by the property (not room by room), and we’re happy to take payment directly from your friends and family if that’s easier. All cottages are self-catering, so you’ve got freedom and flexibility, but they’re kitted out to feel warm and welcoming the moment you walk in.
