One of the questions we’re most often asked by couples is for our recommendations on trusted wedding suppliers. Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to work alongside some of the very best in the industry – talented, professional, and all-round wonderful people who know our venue inside out. That’s why we created The Great Barn Supplier Spotlight: a series shining a light on some of our favourite suppliers, many of whom are familiar faces here at our venue. Every couple who books with us receives a full copy of our carefully curated list of recommended suppliers to help with their planning. But for now, here’s a little preview.
This time, we’re delighted to feature Yeti Photo and Film. Long-time friends turned creative partners, they’ve spent over a decade capturing weddings across Devon and beyond through their beautifully relaxed, honest style of photography and videography.
Tell us a little about who you are and what you offer.
We’re Matt & Vince — the Devon-based duo behind Yeti Photo & Film – long-time friends and storytellers who turned our love of capturing real life into a full-time job. We offer relaxed, candid wedding photography and videography (separately or together – our favourite), working across Devon and beyond for all kinds of couples and celebrations. Our approach is unfussy and authentic — no awkward posing or cheesy moments, just real emotion, proper laughter, unfiltered hugs and the messy, beautiful bits in between.
How did you get started in the wedding industry?
(Vince) I first picked up a camera back in college, but it wasn’t until my first son was born that photography really came back into my life. I just wanted to capture those early family moments — the little things that change so quickly. That quickly reignited something in me, and I haven’t put the camera down since. Sixteen years later, that same instinct to document real, meaningful stories is still what drives me.
(Matt) I started out in photography too, but around 2010 I found myself more and more drawn to film — the movement, the sounds, the way it can capture emotion in such a powerful way. It felt like a natural shift.
We officially became Yeti in 2012 and haven’t looked back. We’ve been doing this long enough now that everything just clicks — we know each other’s rhythm, we trust each other’s eye, and together we create honest, characterful wedding stories through both photo and film.
What makes a wedding at The Great Barn Devon so special from your point of view?
We both love the aesthetics of The Great Barn — there isn’t a bad angle anywhere on site! From the historic architecture to the beautifully kept grounds. It gives us so much to work with when it comes to capturing photos and film. It’s a dream backdrop for a wedding day, with loads of variety and character in every direction. Also… the food is DELISH!
Do you have a favourite memory or moment from a wedding here at The Great Barn?
(Vince) I’ll never forget the moment a surprise gust of wind caught a bride’s veil and sent it flying across the courtyard — followed closely by a groomsman sprinting after it and making the rescue!
(Matt) The dramatic entrance of a Bride at a wedding a few years ago when she entered The Great Barn. The music was from one of The Lord of the Rings film and John got the timing just right with the Bride walking into the lights as the music kicked in. Really dramatic and powerful!
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding?
You do you! Plan your wedding for what you want and what’s important to you, not to follow trends etc. Also, remember to take time on the day to take 10 minutes to yourselves and drink it all in!
What does a typical wedding day look like for you behind the scenes?
We take a pretty unobtrusive approach to weddings — blending in with the day and letting things unfold naturally. After years of capturing so many weddings, we’ve learned to trust our instinct and experience — waiting for real moments to happen, rather than staging or forcing them.
