This time, we’re shining the spotlight on Samantha Marie, a bridal hair and make-up artist whose calm presence and beautifully considered approach make her a joy to have on a wedding morning. Samantha’s work is elegant, timeless and deeply personal — and her focus on how a bride feels is something we admire greatly. We asked Samantha a few questions so you can get to know her and her work a little better…
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT WHO YOU ARE & YOUR APPROACH
I’m Samantha, a bridal hair and makeup artist based in Devon, specialising in soft glam makeup, polished boho hairstyles and my famous Hollywood waves. My approach is all about enhancing natural beauty – helping my brides look and feel like the very best version of themselves. I focus on creating calm mornings, with thoughtful details, providing an experience that feels personal, grounding and supportive. I truly believe how you feel on the morning of your wedding is just as important as how you look.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?
My background is in hairdressing, and over time I found myself naturally drawn to bridal. I loved the emotion, the connection, and the privilege of being part of such meaningful moments and this quickly grew into a deeper passion for creating an extra special experience for my brides.
WHAT MAKES THE GREAT BARN SO SPECIAL, FROM YOUR POINT OF VIEW?
The Great Barn has such a calm, grounding energy to it. The natural light, the stunning gardens, the surrounding countryside – it creates a beautiful sense of ease on the wedding morning. From a from a supplier’s perspective, it’s always so well run and welcoming – not to mention the abundance of space and gorgeous natural light, which is perfect for hairstyling & makeup.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MEMORY OR MOMENT FROM A WEDDING HERE?
One of my favourite moments is always that quiet pause just before the ceremony – when everything is ready, the dress is on, and there’s a sense of stillness before the day really begins. I’ve shared some really lovely, emotional moments with brides at The Great Barn during that time, and those are always very special.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Know that you are in the very best hands at The Great Barn – the team truly take such great care of their couples. Build a day that feels true to you, and remember that the moments you’ll treasure most are often the simplest ones. Choosing suppliers you feel comfortable with and can fully trust, this will make all the difference to your special day.
ARE THERE ANY TRENDS YOU’RE LOVING AT THE MOMENT?
Brides are embracing individuality more and I’m loving that! Whether it’s wearing their hair down, choosing minimal makeup, or stepping away from more traditional bridal styles, it’s all about what feels right for them. My aim is always to create a bridal look that feels totally you and makes you feel completely gorgeous.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WEDDING DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU BEHIND THE SCENES?
I always arrive early to set up and create a calm, organised space. I work through the morning styling the bride and bridal party, keeping everything running smoothly and on time. I’m also there for finishing touches, attaching the veil, calming nerves, and all those little behind-the-scenes moments that make a big difference on the day.
