One of the most special things about weddings here at The Great Barn is the community of brilliant people who help bring each celebration to life. Over the years, we’ve built a trusted Little Black Book of suppliers who don’t just deliver exceptional work – they understand the rhythm of a wedding here. The gentle flow from ceremony to supper, the shift in atmosphere as day turns to evening, and that all-important moment when the barn transforms into a dance floor.
Our Supplier Spotlight series is a chance to introduce you to some of those talented creatives. The ones who feel like an extension of our team and who consistently create unforgettable experiences for our couples. This time, we’re turning up the volume and shining the spotlight on Bill Ding & The Skyscrapers – a band who know exactly how to read a room and keep it buzzing. When they’re setting up for an evening reception, we know we’re in for a brilliant night…
Tell us a bit about yourselves…
Bill Ding & The Skyscrapers are a close-knit group of friends who share a love of live music and great parties. We’re a high-energy wedding and event band focused on keeping dance floors full and creating feel-good moments that people remember. Our style is upbeat, polished and interactive – we believe live music should feel like a shared experience rather than just background entertainment. We blend classic floor-fillers with modern hits, and we always tailor the set list to each couple so it feels personal rather than “off-the-shelf.”
How did weddings become your thing?
It all grew naturally from playing together over the years. What started as friends making music quickly turned into performing at parties and celebrations, and weddings soon became our favourite events because of the atmosphere – everyone is there to celebrate, and the energy is unmatched. Word of mouth spread, and before long weddings became our main focus.
From your perspective, what makes a wedding at The Great Barn so special?
The Great Barn has an incredible balance of character and atmosphere. The space has a lot of personality, and once the evening reception begins it transforms into an amazing party venue. Couples always seem so relaxed and happy there – which makes a huge difference to the vibe of the night.
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding?
Plan the essentials, but don’t over-stress the small details. Guests remember how a wedding felt far more than tiny logistical things. Prioritise the elements that create atmosphere – music, lighting, and good food – and allow yourselves time to enjoy the day rather than managing it.
Are there any trends you’re loving right now?
We’re loving the move toward more relaxed, personality-led weddings. Couples are choosing songs that genuinely mean something to them rather than just following tradition, and we’re also seeing more live-music moments earlier in the day, which really helps build excitement.
Where can couples find out more about you?
You can find us on Instagram and Facebook, and our website has videos, live clips, and reviews from past couples. We’re always happy to chat and help couples plan the musical side of their day.
A final word from us…
There’s something quite magical about that moment when the first dance ends, the tempo lifts, and the barn fills – properly fills – with people singing at the top of their voices. Bill Ding & The Skyscrapers have a knack for creating exactly that kind of atmosphere: joyful, generous and completely unforced. We always feel a little spark of excitement when we see their name on a running order, knowing the evening is in very safe hands. If you’re planning your celebration at The Great Barn and want a band that will keep the energy high while still making it feel completely you, they’re a wonderful choice.
And if you’re still searching for the perfect setting for your own wedding day, we’d love to welcome you to the barn for a viewing.
