YOUR DREAM WEEKEND WEDDING AWAITS

If you’re searching for a 3-day wedding weekend in Devon, chances are you’re not just planning your wedding day – you’re imagining something more immersive, more relaxed, and far more memorable. At The Great Barn Devon, a wedding isn’t confined to a few fleeting hours. It unfolds slowly, naturally, and beautifully across an entire weekend.

Here’s what that really looks like, from the moment you arrive on Friday to those final goodbyes on Sunday.

Friday: Arrival, Settling In & The Start of Something Special

There’s something quite magical about arriving at The Great Barn on a Friday afternoon. The pace immediately softens.

Cars pull in to the courtyard, gates being to open, and there’s that first moment – stepping out, taking it all in, and realising this is yours for the weekend.

The farmhouse kitchen of Place quickly becomes the heart of everything. Bags are dropped, rooms are claimed, and before long, someone has the kettle on. A coffee in hand, you gather around the table, chatting through plans, laughing, and easing into the weekend. If the weather is kind, others drift outside – drinks on the lawn, sunglasses on, soaking up the calm before the celebrations begin.

Friday offers time for a relaxed rehearsal if needed – no rush, no pressure – just a chance to walk through things in a way that feels easy and unhurried. And of course, final prep and deliveries happen smoothly with the help of our lovely team.

As evening sets in, everyone gathers in the West Barn for an informal supper – think generous trays of lasagne, fresh salad, warm garlic bread – simple, comforting, and exactly what’s needed. The kind of meal where people help themselves, glasses are topped up, and conversation flows effortlessly. Or perhaps something is being whipped up in the self-catering cottages by your guests; the kitchens are equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay.

Later, you might wander outside to the fire pit, or gather around the wood burning stove in one of the cosy sitting room. And then, bed. Not with stress or last-minute logistics, but with a sense of calm excitement for everything that’s to come.

Saturday: The Celebration Unfolds

Saturday morning begins gently.

The cottages come to life slowly – sunlight streaming through the windows, the kettle on again, pastries laid out on the kitchen table. The glam squad arrives, quietly transforming our beautiful accommodation into a hive of activity. Hair, makeup, music playing softly in the background… and of course, a few Bellinis to mark the occasion.

There’s a lovely contrast to the morning: inside, it’s warm, joyful, full of anticipation. Outside, the Great Barn sits peacefully, waiting.

As the morning moves on, there’s that unmistakable shift. The distant sound of guests arriving. The hum of excitement building just beyond view.

Then it’s time.

Whether you’ve chosen an indoor ceremony beneath the characterful beams of the barn, or an outdoor ceremony surrounded by Devon countryside, everything feels effortlessly close. No travel, no stress, just a short, meaningful walk to the moment you’ve been waiting for.

From there, the day flows naturally.

Reception drinks spill out into the courtyard or gardens, glasses clinking, hugs and congratulations all around. The Great Barn itself feels different again as the day evolves and as our efficient team transform it from ceremony space to feast-ready.

The wedding feast follows, filled with incredible food, heartfelt speeches, and that shared sense of occasion that only comes when all your favourite people are together in one place.

As the afternoon draws in, the atmosphere shifts once more. Music starts, drinks are flowing, At some point – often just as the sun begins to dip – you slip away together for a few quiet moments. The light across our grounds at this time of day is something special. Soft, golden, and fleeting. Perfect for those just-married couple portraits, away from the crowd but still very much in the heart of it all.

Then it’s back to the celebrations – plenty of dancing, drinks, laughter, delicious evening food – it’s the kind of night no one wants to end.

Sunday: Slow Mornings & Fond Farewells

There’s no abrupt ending here, just a slower, softer pace as everyone begins to wake.

Guests can choose to gather once more in the West Barn for breakfast. Whether it’s a full English, a continental spread, or something simple like a bacon bap, it’s another chance to sit together, relive the best moments, and laugh about the night before.

Later, there’s time to truly unwind. A dip in the outdoor pool on a warm day, a coffee in the sunshine, or a quiet walk around the grounds. No one is rushing off – and that’s exactly the point. The entire estate is yours to enjoy all weekend, and we strongly encourage you to do so!

Eventually, bags are packed, cars are loaded, and goodbyes are said. Not rushed, not hurried – just a gradual winding down of a weekend that’s felt entirely your own.
